ANCILLA DOMINI
The end of life!*
I thought that it would be
more swift for me.
I dreamed not of the loneliness and strife,
the pain, the weariness, the misery;
but yet, God's will is best,
and in that will I rest,
Ancilla Domini.
O Mother mine,
the Face I long to see
is turned from me.
Then pray for me to Christ, thy Son divine;
so powerful his mother's prayer must be.
Win pardon for the past
and keep me till the last
Ancilla Domini.
