Solemnity of the Assumption
The Solemnity of the Assumption invites us to contemplate not only where Mary is, but who she became through God's Grace. Throughout her life, Mary allowed the Lord to shape her heart into a dwelling place of perfect love. Her soul became radiant with holiness because she responded each day with faith, humility, and complete trust in God's will. The beauty of Mary was not merely outward; it was the golden beauty of a soul entirely surrendered to God.
Continuous offering of love
From the moment of her joyful "Yes" at the Annunciation until she stood faithfully beneath the Cross, Mary's life was a continuous offering of love. She treasured God's Word, pondered His mysteries in her heart, and remained steadfast through every joy and every sorrow. Grace transformed her from within, making her a living reflection of God's goodness and mercy.
Dormition
According to the ancient tradition of the Church, when Mary's earthly life drew to its close, she entered her Dormition, her peaceful "falling asleep" in the Lord. Her death was not a defeat but the completion of a life wholly united to Christ. Because she belonged so completely to her Son, God did not allow the body that had borne the Incarnate Word to remain in the grave. Mother Mary was assumed, body and soul, into heavenly glory, where she now rejoices forever in the presence of the Holy Trinity.
Promise of hope
Mary's Assumption is more than a privilege granted to one holy woman; it is a promise of hope for all who follow Christ. Her glorified life reveals the destiny God desires for His faithful people. Holiness is not beyond our reach. Like Mary, we are called to let God's grace transform our hearts day by day until the beauty of Christ shines within us.
Honour Our Lady
As we honour Our Lady today, let us ask for her prayers. May she teach us to treasure God's Word, to trust Him in every circumstance, and to grow in the golden beauty of holiness. Then, when our own earthly pilgrimage is complete, we too may be welcomed into the eternal joy of heaven, where we shall behold God face to Face and sing His praises forever.
O MARY, QUEEN OF MAY
Queen of May, O gentle Mother fair,
You watch our weary world with tender care;
From heaven’s light your loving gaze descends,
Upon your children, whom your heart befriends.
With blossoms bright we crown your holy brow,
In love and prayer we make our humble vow.
Each petal laid, a quiet act of grace,
A sign of faith no darkness can erase.
You held dear Jesus, so fragile, pure, and mild,
And taught the world through care of holy Divine Child.
In simple deeds, in kindness softly shown,
We echo love that in your life was sown.
In troubled times, as ever they have been,
When hearts grow faint and hope becomes unseen;
We turn to you, O Mother, calm and bright,
To guide our steps again toward heaven’s true light.
Lead us, dear Mother Mary, upon the narrow way,
Through shadowed paths wending onward into eternal day.
We ask you keep us close, whatever may befall;
Sweet Queen of May, our Mother, our dear beloved all.

During Christ's youth, Mother Mary loved her family, and showed affection to all. She accepted God's Invitation to become Mother of His Son. Mary visited St Elizabeth with joy and affection. Mother Mary was faithful spouse to St Joseph. She fled to Egypt with her husband and son, and thus is Queen of Refugees.
Today Mother Mary is Queen of Heaven and Queen of hearts. We pray that Mother Mary keep us safe today and that she will overcome the power of the evil one.
We pray that Mother Mary will help to bring us safely in the harbour of heaven, where - crowned as Queen of Heaven - she abides.
O Mother Mary, chosen one,
Who bore in womb God’s only Son,
A hidden grace, a mystery deep,
While heaven watched and earth did keep.
Gracious Queen in silence bright,
You carried Love, the world’s true Light,
Unseen the Child, yet fully known,
The Word made flesh, to us now shown.
With Saint Joseph by your side so true,
In humble home your love first grew,
A faithful heart, a family small,
Yet held within the Lord of all.
You rose in haste o’er hill and field,
To Elizabeth, who Baptist didst yield.
Your greeting filled the air with grace,
As God’s own Presence lit that place.
O Queen of refugees, we see
Your flight to Egypt urgently;
With Child and spouse through desert night,
Preserved by God’s protecting Might.
Now crowned in heaven, radiant Queen,
Above all things both heard and seen,
You shine your light on hearts below,
And guide us where God’s Mercies flow.
Keep us, dear Mother, in God’s Thrall,
With loving trust that binds us all.
Protect our souls through night and day,
And lead us on the narrow way.
O'ercome the serpent’s ancient power,
Where fear and shadow oft do tower.
Let evil flee before your grace,
And peace upon the world take place.
When life’s storm has spent its breath,
And we draw near the gate of death,
Bring us, O Queen, by gentle hand,
Safe to heaven’s harbour, fair and grand.
There crowned in light, with saints above,
You reign in everlasting love,
O Mother Mary, hear our plea -
Lead us to Christ eternally.
